In 1994, staff from the La Familia Sana (The Health Child) program in Hood River, Oregon, along with colleagues from the Oregon Public Health Association, hosted the first regional CHW conference in the Pacific Northwest. It drew more than 100 people from more than 4 states. In order to create a common understanding about CHW history, Dr. Noelle Wiggins and her colleagues at La Familia Sana developed and enacted a sociodrama. A few years later, needing a version that could be "staged" without a pre-existing cast, Dr. Wiggins adapted the play to a "radio play" format. She shared it with her colleagues Sergio Matos and Romelia Rodriguez, who added characters who were important and specific to their own context in New York City. Since then, the radio play — which is now a "podcast" — has been updated and adapted to many different regional contexts. The version attached here is just one of many. Feel free to use it, adding characters from CHW history from your own community or culture.
